We left Friday evening to fly to Germany for the weekend. It's quite easy and not too expensive to fly out of Stansted airport. We can take the train to Stansted, then fly to any number of places. Houston had done some research and picked Oberstaufen because it had good cross country skiing. It was in Bavaria, near Switzerland and Austria. We rented a car and drove an hour to the 'resort'. Houston had to remember to drive on the righthand side of the road.
