Staddles
















These mushroomed-shaped stone things are staddles. They're mostly used decoratively in gardens now, but the first picture shows how useful they are in holding up a barn. They're also used for holding hay so rodents can't get to it. They're lovely aged stone, usually covered with moss and lichen. Ann and I saw a shop selling them so I bought one. Can't wait to get it home and in my garden.
